Modifying the properties of Windows Firewall requires a user account with the ability to elevate privileges. You can enable or disable the firewall from the Windows Firewall Settings dialog box, as shown in Figure 8-2. From the Windows Firewall item in Control Panel, you can access this dialog box by clicking Turn Windows Firewall On Or Off or Change Settings. Selecting the Block All Incoming Connections check box in the General tab of the Windows Firewall Settings dialog box blocks any exceptions that you might have configured for incoming traffic. This includes blocking connections from Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop that might have previously been configured.
